Welcome to the saddest show on earth. Boycott Ringling Help stop the abuse

This is a petition to bring to justice the people who recently stuck a firecracker in a dog’s mouth and then taped his mouth shut. If you haven’t seen the images already, I will warn you that it is extremely graphic and you should prepare yourself as you click on this link.

I’m shaking right now. I want to pass this on to anyone else who can sign the petition. Please do the same if you can. I want to reiterate that the video footage and images of Vucko are extremely graphic and upsetting.

An X-ray showing the mother dog with a nail in her skull is seen in this undated photo.

Police in a rural part of southwestern Quebec are investigating a horrible case of animal cruelty after a black Labrador retriever and her puppies were abandoned on the side of a quiet road — three of whom had been shot in the head with a nail gun.
The mother and her eight pups had been left for dead when Ken France and Genevieve Sabourin rescued them, after they got a call from a friend who discovered the dogs next to an isolated road in Monteregie.
France and Sabourin said it was a miracle that only two of the puppies died.
“My reaction at that time was of horror,”Sabourin recalled. “I was just horrified.”
Rescuers came across the mother first. She led them to a ditch 20 feet away where one of her puppies was shivering in the snow.
“Obviously to me she was not going to make it. She was dying,” Sabourin said.
She began petting the dog and felt something strange on its head.
“Then I looked and I saw that it was metal, like two pieces of metal that had been punctured in the brain,” she recalled.
“This is when I said: ‘something’s really, really wrong here.’”
Another puppy lay dead in a garbage bag nearby. It had also been shot by a nail gun.
Animal protection services took all the dogs to the vet. The mother, who also had a long nail lodged in her brain, was treated there and is recovering.
The six surviving puppies have been adopted. But police are investigating who abused the dogs.
Meanwhile, both France and Sabourin say they’re struggling to understand a crime, which they say still haunts them.
This is completely repulsive. I saw these gorgeous dogs on the news tonight. The mother is so sweet. I’m so grateful for the people that rescued them. I hope the “people” that did this will get what they deserve in one way or another.

this gets to me as much as (if not more than any of) the photos of mutilated animals people seem to enjoy posting lately.

Calgary police link arson attack, severed cat’s head

CALGARY — Police say a dangerous arson and a severed cat’s head left on a doorstep could both be the work of a psychopath.
There are disturbing connections between a Calgary home deliberately set on fire on Aug. 15, and a neighbourhood cat’s head left Monday on the doorstep of a potential witness to the fire, Calgary police say.
“We have great concern. Anyone who would set a fire and intentionally trap people inside is a concern. It’s a trait of a psychopath,” said arson Det. Scott Sampson, who discovered the decapitated head of a cat Monday as he arrived to interview a witness.
“I’ve never experienced something like this. It’s like something out of the movies.”
The August arson could have been deadly, police say. Wooden pallets were leaned against the front and back doors of the home and set ablaze in the middle of the night.
The smell of smoke awoke the two people sleeping inside. They managed to push the burning pallets away from the home, sparing it from becoming engulfed in flames.
Police do have suspects in the case, and say they are getting closer to learning more.
“Something like this is tragic. It’s an outrageous act. I can’t believe someone would do this to send a message or intimidate someone,” said Sampson.
The cat’s head was intentionally cut off and was not the act of a natural predator, police say.
A tattoo inside the cat’s ear identified the animal and her owners, who live just a few blocks away.
Brothers Aleen and Naeem Abdul are still reeling after learning their beloved pet was beheaded. Their three-year-old cat Bell went missing Saturday.
“It’s disgusting, I can’t believe someone would do something like that. It’s pretty shocking,” said Naeem Abdul, 28.
“I hope they catch who did it. Something’s wrong with them.”
About three years ago, the brothers adopted two sister kittens from a friend.
Bell and her long-haired grey sibling, Nala, spent their last day together snuggling on their bed.
“She was a really smart cat, very affectionate,” said Aleen, 24.
“She was like a part of our family,” said Naeem.
This is so sad. I really loathe people sometimes. The picture and comment about Bell cuddling with her sister before she died made me tear up.Unfortunately Canada has some of the weakest and outdated animal protection laws in the first world.

Poor Laika. I know you know all about her, but she deserves to have her story told. A poor stray with a curly tale, she was snatched from Moscow streets - what mingling hopes and fears must have held her as she was taken by strange men to the cosmonaut training centre! Subjected to vigorous tests, pressurised cabins, zero gravity, and all processed in the confused haze of a dog’s mind. Sensation without understanding! And then shot into the atmosphere, with no prospect of return. It was planned that she would be euthanised (poisoned) on the tenth day, but Laika never made it that far. She died hours after leaving Earth.Dogs, I imagine, are unable to form conclusions on a wide level. She didn’t know where she was going, or why. But animals know when death is coming. Laika knew. Truly a victim of politics. I put Orion in the background of this picture (maybe I cropped it out, I don’t know if you can tell) because he is my favourite constellation, and because he is a dog lover. He has Cirius and the other one and now he has Laika.
